CONSTRUCTION
OF THE SHEPHERD'S HUT
The
traditional design of the Shepherd's Hut dates back to the
nineteenth century. They were built in the true spirit of
agriculture practicality and durability. The original design
was mainly wooden (including the wheels) except for the curved
roof that had a canvas and tar cover. Later, as iron became
the popular building material, corrugated iron sheeting replaced
the canvas roof and also provided cladding for the sides,
while the wooden wheels were exchanged for cast iron.
Our design differs only slightly
from the original.
